How many different labels are there for this line? I thought the whole line was made in Italy but just saw a made in England trench. The label was the knight on the jumping horse and in small letter on the banner, it said Prorsum.

Is that actually Prorsum?

There was a row when Burberry announced it was closing its Treorchy, South Wales plant in 2007, so presumably this may be something that came from that factory.

That is old Burberry(s') and not to be confused with Burberry Prorsum which is the high fashion Christopher Bailey designed line. Though the Prorsum monkier did come from the knight's standard.

Burberrys has now been renamed Burberry (about 9 years ago). I think this happened as soon as Christopher Bailey took over the creative director position. There are two lines produced by the house of Burberry. One is called Burberry Prorsum and is shown in Milan during fashion week and the designs are quite cutting edge (though not too much compared to other designers). The other line is just called Burberry (London) and focuses on more classic designs. Your coat was surely produced before 1999.

I have a Burberrys' suit that was made in the US... I think by Hickey Freeman. It's full canvas and definitely fits like an HF.

I made the mistake of buying a Burberry London suit last year. I bought it on a whim because I liked the color and pattern (grey glen plaid), and I ignored the fact that it was not very well made. I wore it once, and donated it. The second time I went to wear it, I caught a glimpse of it in the mirror, and the thing was so heavily fused the front of it looked like I was wearing a breast plate!!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
