Apropos of my J.Crew x Red Wing thread, I can get my hands on two different pairs of the original Red Wing version of this boot right in my building. There's a shoe repair shop on the ground-floor who has had 2 pairs of these in his window for the longest time (it's actually what spurred my interest in the boot). This morning I went him and asked him what the story was. Seems he used to own a shoe selling outfit, and started the repair shop when it folded. Since then, he's been slowly selling off his old stock. The two he has are NIB, with all tags and laces and such, in a size 8E and a size 8D. If anybody's interested, PM me and I'll pick them up for you. I might even be able to ship out today. Price would be $100 shipped conUS. for more pix, here is Zappo's page for them.
At Context, you can get a 360-degree feel for how they'd look with jeans, as they are worn by the KMW 1950 and 1980 models (though note that he's wearing the low-top Sperry Topsider-like version, the ones I can get are the boots, but same general profile)
