Step one: does the disc have a blue sheen, rather than a silver? If so, it's a burned copy. Step two: if something is truly hinky about the cover (obvious bitmapping / low-res graphics, non-glossy paper when it should be glossy, etc) check for the matrix numbers on the disc itself.
