Thanks @woO @wahnamhong @Kid_Icarus for helping me to rationalise expanding my wardrobe with a jungle jacket. Much obliged

Would you wear the new jungle jacket? I think its such a cool piece. But whereas games suits and chores fit my daily environment, I rarely discover new continents in (sub)tropical zones, and I really want to avoid looking like Melania Trump in Egypt…

That’s a ringing endorsement (of the garment, not the price). In London in a few weeks, hope I can still pick it up in the store.

As usual, the light is playing tricks with the colors. The first picture is the heavy cotton twill chore, originally in French blue (which I somehow couldn't make work with anything else) dyed navy. In the second picture, you see it on me, which is more representative of the actual color.

That works well. I dyed a Drake’s linen chore and just recently a heavy cotton twill chore. Just make sure to test if the stitching thread takes the dye. I had to take apart the entire linen chore and stitch it together again in the target color, including button holes.

Yes, shortened the sleeves on a cotton twill games blazer. Easy to do (as @krainsford mentions, no buttons or lining) but because the blazer is garment-dyed, there were some undyed spots where I removed thicker stitching. Had to cover those up.

Walking the ramparts of St. Malo in the morning before the crowds is great. Enjoy! And if you go to Cancalle, at the other end of the waterfront from where some of the pictures in the lookbook were taken, you can enjoy a lovely diner at the aptly named Au bout du quai. For no-fuss seafood shack...

Everyone to their own fantasies, I suppose. Maine, Scotland, Brittany, the English coast (minus the wastewater) are some of my favorite places, including the chill, the mist, the rain, the lobster, the oysters... When I saw the latest lookbook, I thought Drake's was on to me, and this was a...

I want the green linen chore in @woO's photo - but I have to watch my closet space.

It looks like the Winter 2022 mid-brown prince of Wales check blazer (see e.g. this lookbook), but the buttons differ. The Fair Isle V-neck sleevelees jumper underneath is also from 2022.

Saving some money until the spring items drop. Only got a submariner roll neck in green. Cheaper than a botox treatment of my neck.

Super, great picture. I was wondering how tailors would do that, but your photo is very insightful. Any seam adds a bit of stiffness, and there is one extra layer of cloth as well in the hem, so it makes sense that the alteration would be a bit more rigid than the unshortened original. Neat...

Similar thickness but softer. I prefer it over the regular jersey knit.

Oy vey. I had the exact same issue with one of last year's all-wool work shirts I wanted to combine with the olive cord games suit. I'd ordered it directly from Drake's, and when I contacted them about it, they immediately refunded the shirt in full. It is now my (petite) wife's favourite top...

After all that meat and a magnum of wine, he might just have picked the wrong scarf in the wardrobe… Merry Christmas, everyone.

It’s a traditional feature on e.g. loden coats, so that pleat has been around for quite a while already.

Hmm, you are right about the fit on the shoulders. Since it is really an overcoat, I'd have expected a bigger sleeve head and a wider sleeve. Are you wearing a jacket underneath the coat? If not, it definitely doesn't fit you the way it should. Not sure if sizing up would help either as that...

Definitely do not go smaller than size 36. Looks good on you. If you intend to layer it with an extra sports coat underneath, do try that is well to see if its still comfortable. My impression is that a size 38 would also work for you.
