    Oak Street Bootmakers

The Penny Loafer is on the 555 last. Unlined cxl will stretch and mold very fast although a mis-sized shoe won't feel right ever. I got a full size and a half size on the way to compare

Great to hear. I'll try and swing by my local Alden retailer today or tomorrow and see if they have any to try on. Btw what is a Van friendly foot? I have a kinda boxy foot with a medium high instep...

Heh true. How do you size your Van lasted loafers? TTS, 1/2 down.... A full down?

For shell loafers 100000% Alden then maybe Rancourt. Alden calf is nice. CXL... Rancourt, Oak Street and Grant Stone have you covered.

Seriously considering a pair of these this year. Looked into a few other brands making shell loafers but these look the best to me

Anyone here have any experience with OSBs Repello suede penny loafer?

Very nice. I love my Bourbon suede Penny Loafers and really want some Crimson CXL ones (seconds or sale price so I won't feel bad about beating that cxl like it owes me money)

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

I also have a pair of Quoddy boat shoes and find them to be an interesting contrast to Rancourt Reads. Quoddy uses Siedel leather and man at least in my shoes the spec it SOFT. Unlined with a full length poron and leather sockliner. No real arch support to speak of, unlike the bit that Rancourt...

Neat. My Nick's will be on their Thurman (Munson) last.

Very interesting. I'd think since BWF is basically waxed roughout CXL then it would be super supple and easy to break in. Good to hear your experiences with both. My config of choice would be 1964 smooth over rough

How was the break of BWF vs 1964 brown roughout? Any huge difference? Oh and any noticable support difference?

Hmm well leather swells when it absorbs water. Tree them and let them dry naturally and they should be ok.

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

Try your Brannock in it, that's what I did in my Camden derbys

RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine

Exactly. Too many have been told by salespeople or forum experts that "ohh yes leather shoes and boots are supposed to almost hurt when new and they'll totally stretch to fit" In reality the length will never change and the width of the insole isn't changing, what's happening is the upper is...

I use trees. However, water + waxy commander = shrunken boots?

Not good for me. I'd rather not have my boots shrink on my feet

    Quoddy Boat Shoes MEGATHREAK

Blucher moc vs the Canoe moc. I like the blucher moc a lot better, fits the instep better and the suede is massively softer. Thinking of MTO'ing a Mushroom suede blucher moc and get an off the rack Whiskey boat shoe. If I go MTO I'm torn between the Camp sole and the comfort lug sole

    Quoddy Boat Shoes MEGATHREAK

I must say, the toe/toebox on Quoddy looks broader than Rancourt. I have some Bluchers and Canoe shoes coming in from.... Not Quoddy to get my fit in their shoes. TTS is best right?

Alright everyone, how does the Alexander last compare to the Leo last and/or Brannock in terms of sizing? I'm a 9.5 D in the Leo and Brannock. Thanks

Outstanding sizing advice here. Too many buy welted/stitched footwear too tight out of the box and end up hating it because it never "stretches out". IMHO, most stuff I get in my Brannock (9.5 D) besides Trubalance, Barrie, Munson without an insole (else it's tts) and tennis shoes/certain hiking...
