    For me it really was getting to a point where I felt I had a solid rotation and had most bases covered. That happened at my 7th pair of AE shoes (and matching belts); there are other pairs I'd like to have, but it really is diminishing returns for my wardrobe from where I am now.

    I have six pairs on the 5 last; FA, Strand, McCallister, Fairfax, Kenilworth, and McGregor. The McGregors have the roomiest toe box of all of them, easily.

     You may also want to try different lacing. My 5 last AEs seem more comfortable and appear to have a smaller v-gap when I use something other than bar lacing.

    Could also try using a brush normally used for black shoes when working with the walnut polish. I've done that with my walnut Kenilworths and they're a bit darker with a some nice depth to the finish.

    I kind of wish that I had sent the Strands to B. Nelson, as those are worn enough to warrant a JR sole. The Fairfaxs that I got back don't get enough wear to benefit from a JR sole (they were an eBay purchase).
