    Winter Overcoat

I have several items from Bookster Tailoring out of UK. What I like about them is you build a custom overcoat - you pick the material/color, style etc. Besides several 'coating' fabrics they have an enormous selection of tweeds. I have an overcoat in Keeper's Tweed that looks great and very...

Looking for advice on dressing for first office job

You're on the right track with chinos - you can wear polos or button down. As with others I dislike dress tennis shoes. Now, I also have a lot of AE shoes as well as a number of other models. What I will say is AE lasts can be very uncomfortable. For example, in US sizing I wear 9.5D on many...

    Leather Backpack for Business Casual?

I think backpacks are fine for business casual. The problem is when you want to go leather and you're concerned about price point. That usually means you'll end up with a bag that shows it's age (and not in a good way) after a few years depending on how you use it. The more you slide it around...

    Biltmore Hats

You can look here for a history - as you'll see it's gone through a number of changes over the years. https://www.guelphhistoricalsociety.ca/archives/historic-guelph/volume-47/biltmore-hats-a-brief-history. I believe it was sold to a larger company based in Texas: Dorfman Milano hats. Here is...

Quality of this wallet I purchased?

First off - shell is stiffer so that's going to cause some issues with closing it until you break it in and it stretches & creases a bit. Secondly, shell is expensive, so you're paying a premium for the leather alone. The craftsmanship of the stitching is OK. As pointed out, it isn't top...

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

Woodlore shoe trees are great (owned by allen edmonds). You don't need trees specifically designated for boots. Here's a 2-pack for $45. https://tinyurl.com/msxyp2u2

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

Just chiming in on the whole CXL thing. I have several pairs of CXL boots and several pairs of shoes. They do tend to crease more - and it depends on how the creases form. Most pairs I havevn't had a problem but one pair of shoes had some bad creasing. It's great for low maintenance - yes...

Sportcoats and Suits: Buttoning the bottom button

I agree - they aren't being taught. At a family funeral last year I had to help my nephews out about suit jackets - one still had the stitching on the vent and label on jacket sleeve and none of them knew how to button.

    Any advice on this outfit?

I'm also not a fan of the shoes. For the pants, if you're going to wear pants that have that are that tight at the ankle they should be shorter, IMO - see how it causes the whole pant leg to bunch up?

    Waterproof Jackets

Barbour jackets are the middle ground between the two

Boots Boots Boots - For Boot Guys Only

For my latest purchase, I decided to branch out and try a western style boot. After a bit of research I landed on Chisos. Took a while to get a pair but after a couple wears I'm liking them

    Attire for Italy Trip

I think your head might explode if you ever came to the midwest USA. Men don't even wear suits to weddings/funerals anymore. My brother in law would wear chinos 6 inches too long to a wedding because he couldn't be bothered to take them to a tailor and pay $30 to get them hemmed. You'll see...

Would black shoes look off on a dark green suit?

I second the vote for dark brown or burgundy. Black isn't bad with green just not as good as the other two IMO

What is your preferred frame style for men's sunglasses?

It depends. I wear glass-lens Aviators for a bit dressier appearance. But, if I'm going to be out in the sun all day I still prefer my Maui Jim wrap-around glasses - better overall coverage and lighter.

    Peacoat Fit Advice Please?

Fit is fine in the body - sleeves are a bit long but would be expensive to shorten

How difficult is it to polish Lucchese Black Cherry colored boots?

Polish color doesn't have to be an exact match. You could use neutral. Or you select a shade that is close. You will get a slight shade change but not dramatic. Of course you could contact the maker and ask for their recommendation.

    Shoe trees vs boot trees

the only real benefit is the tree is 'taller' and thus if you have a tall shaft to the boot it's easier to get a hold of. My boots are all 8" or less so shoe trees work just fine. I periodically order Woodlore shoe trees from Amazon: https://tinyurl.com/3u2889en I prefer split toe trees as...

    Shoe pairing

Agree - any of the lighter brown tones would work great.

Will this work for my wedding? Charcoal Gray suit, white dress shirt with french cuffs cuff links, and a black grenandine. No clue on what shoes ?

Quality control in a lot of manufacturers took a big hit with Covid and the aftermath. The benefit of sticking with AE is you know what fits you. Alden, Crockett and Jones are both alternatives that make a better shoe but you're also venturing into different lasts that you're not familiar...

Equus Leather - English Handstitched Bridle Leather Belts - Official Affiliate and Review Thread

I agree with this. The belts I got from Equus were the simple bridle leather - not raised, nothing fancy. Then they expanded to other leather goods. And, at the same time the price of their simple belts kept going up. The last belt I bought from them was in 2017 for 70 british pounds. I...
