What can I wear with shorts other than sneakers or loafers?

To put it simply, yes it does. Chinos or slacks would be congruent with this "dressy casual" or "business casual" aesthetic. Shorts are ultra-casual in my book, they're in the same category as sneakers, t-shirts, and baseball caps. I feel similarly about men trying to "dress up" jeans and...

What can I wear with shorts other than sneakers or loafers?

To me, this is a similar concept to sneakers with suits, or those hybrid dress shoes / sneakers you see everywhere these days -- oxford upper, sneaker sole. By committing to neither aesthetic, it succeeds in neither, and the amalgam of the two becomes something separate entirely -- not a dressy...

What can I wear with shorts other than sneakers or loafers?

I'm opining from an urban perspective, espadrilles and sandals really aren't suitable for out-and-about wear in a city. Sandals are just biohazardous, but espadrilles I find aren't substantial enough for walking on pavement for long periods. It's just not what they were designed for. They're...

What can I wear with shorts other than sneakers or loafers?

The cohort of men who believe "short pants are for schoolboys" are seldom younger than 60 and are fading into the grainy, sepia annals of history. In the dead of summer where I live (NYC area) wearing long pants out during the day is conspicuous enough to look odd. Shorts are ultra-casual...

    Jeans fitting

At the end of the day, the way your clothing fits is going to be a matter of personal preference -- some sort of marriage between comfort and flattery of your body within the prevailing paradigm of contemporary fashion sense. When it comes to jeans, I believe they should fit a little more...

    Jeans fitting

Don't worry about the inseam (length). This is a quick, cheap alteration at the tailor's, or you can simply cuff them. The angle of your photos are not ideal for assessing fit, but they all look fine. Sounds like the Lee's Rider is the best for you.

Gucci Loafer (not horesbit) for tuxedo/Dinner Jacket

I'm not a fan of the 'dressy shoe no sock' look that's getting its 15 minutes now. Aside from looking too Instagrammy for my taste, it looks really uncomfortable and I did observe a younger colleague at a cocktail event off to the side, treating his blisters from wearing tassel loafers sockless...

Desperately looking for 100% cotton chinos

I would recommend Jack Donnelly. Their flagship chinos are 100% cotton, fairly substantial 8.5oz twill, $150 unhemmed. They have 4 different fits, took me a "trial pair" to get my fit dialed down to the M3 which is a higher-rise, semi-slim "Ivy" fit that I think is perfect. Made in the USA, not...

    Tie advise

A solid navy blue tie looks best with pinstriped shirts, IMO.

Can I wear this suit jacket as a blazer?

American here. I wouldn't be able to tell that jacket apart from a sport coat, and I can easily tell when a suit jacket is being worn as a sport coat. My boss has taken to wearing his conservative suit jackets as sport coats with chinos, apparently because it's 2024, and he looks like a 22 year...

Corby trouser press - are they worth it?

Leaning toward this conclusion myself. I honestly didn't see the 'value add' this device purported to perform over periodic ironing. It takes up real estate in my bedroom, too. I 'field-stripped' it by removing the front panel -- some metal bar held in place with a tension screw popped back...

Corby trouser press - are they worth it?

Yes this from Corby, but you can also install an ironing board topper. I read some other post from a guy who installed 3mm thick neoprene by stapling it around the heating coils... I may go this route, since the neoprene will hold up better/longer than the open-cell foam. I'll update here...

Corby trouser press - are they worth it?

The foam lining the back panel deteriorates over time, creating weird ripple wrinkles in the trousers. I’ve had mine for about 8 years and the foam is gone. I actually came across this post looking for a way to repair it, because apparently Corby will only sell the replacement foam to a licensed...

    Chino fit feedback

lol damn, he’s the spitting image! My infant nephew likes Blue’s Clues, so maybe I’ll reserve this combo for babysitting. Honestly if these chinos were just a touch slimmer, I’d immediately buy another pair in navy. The fabric and construction is really premium, but I’m just not in love with...

    Chino fit feedback

Yes, it does. That's why I'm thinking I could have the seat taken in just a bit, or maybe have the inseam go a little higher into the crotch to shorten the back rise a bit? I'm just worried that will come at the expense of comfort when seated.
