Very crispy at first purchase, but softens very quickly. The final hand after around 20 washes is excellent.

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

I think you are correct on this front. Perhaps this is my "spent $2k on the "wrong" jacket" mind coming forth and isn't a correct representation of the quality of FCL as a brand and that no leather is better, just better for each individual.

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Yes, both RMC and FCL use proprietary leathers from Shinki. Pehaps FCL like a flatter leather with less noticeable grain, or they do not get as prime of skins as RMC / Freewheelers gets. There are a few notes - the FCL skin is a 1.3mm skin and seems to have a higher luster and overall much...

Need a custom shirt maker for one-off.

Just to understand the question better - is your question how you can best get a shirt made for yourself, or how to best get a sample made with the intention of producing a bulk order? You can always get any of the standard bespoke shirt makers to make you what you want if your intention is to...

Standard & Strange: Boots, Leather, & Denim - Official Affiliate Thread

I don't know if it is any NYC store exclusive, but I noticed it wasn't included on their website. It is a lightweight and extremely drapey 100% Belgian linen, but performs like a silk/linen blend with a cold hand and light sheen and noticeably less dry than some Italian linen shirting cloths...

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

I happened to stop by Standard and Strange this week to look at the Buco jackets, and am extremely sad when comparing them to other suggested horsehide jacket makers. I don't know how anyone in the world can consider Fine Creek Leather to be anywhere near the leather quality of Real McCoy. Real...

Standard & Strange: Boots, Leather, & Denim - Official Affiliate Thread

Had an excellent experience with the New York store this week. Ended up walking out with a few shirts, some denim, and a few small accessories. Real talk - I'm going to need several more colors of the Blluemade four pocket linen short sleeve. I was actually planning on picking up a few more and...

Discussions about the fashion industry thread

In all honesty, I think the brands are less scared of receiving a fake product than they are of receiving a twice worn leather jacket with small scuffs, or shirting with deodorant small, or the shoe that has clearly been worn, but not enough to really justify being called "worn". Especially with...

Discussions about the fashion industry thread

From the number of friends I have spoken to on the e-Commerce side of the industry, the abuse of open ended return policies is rampant, especially in high fashion, and is completely changing how we handle digital sales from a margin perspective. While fashion has always had a significantly...

Japanese Boot / Shoe Appreciation Thread (White Cloud, Rolling Dub Trio, John Lofgren, Clinch, etc.

Ended up picking up a pair of Lofgren engineers in black CXL for a decent price as a "test run" if you will of the engineer boot silhouette (I've always owned laced boots in the past). Does anyone have tips on how to break down the pass through? I've tried doing the plastic bag trick and was...

Discussions about the fashion industry thread

I was having a conversation about the state of the US fabric industry and really seem to be at a head scratcher for high end fabrics still being produced domestically. I know the US still supports wide goods in the denim world, and large swaths of canvas suppliers, but can’t really think of many...
