100% Wool or 100% Cotton ties

My ties are 100% buffalo ass hair, of only the finest quality. They are plucked individually, with an emphasis on those with encrusted dingleberries. Ladies dig it because it's so expensive and usually worn by A list Hollywood celebs and for other shallow, gold digger reasons. So go ahead, buy...

The official thrift/discount store bragging thread

Found a Corneliani suit in 42R (well, some tag had the number 42 on it), but for some reason fit like a 38 or so. Fit was great, incredible quality. Then I looked at the pants... A urine stain inside that was the size of Texas. *sigh*

Time Out New York's feature on bespoke suits

Jesus. Besides the fact that most of these are horribly made, does anyone else find it alarming that most tailors these days don't know anything about suitmaking? My god, for all the talk about all the options available now for custom made clothing, I have yet to see one example that actually...

    Serious Spectacles *Help*

Will glasses do much at all? If you want to look older, you're going to have to wear glasses that older adults wear. Which means having to wear some damn ugly glasses. I would say a haircut or growing a beard does more for you. Or maybe gaining some weight if you're gangly.

    Suits with soft shoulders

I like how the armhole seam in the OP pic is a little bit inwards from the end of the shoulder, approaching more the blue line below than the purple one in the pic below.... does that position increase shoulder mobility? I only seem to see it on 'soft-shouldered' suits... I'm sure such suits...

    Suits with soft shoulders

Alright confession, I was glancing (really, just glancing) at Thom Browne's suits and I couldn't help but like the soft shoulders that appear in his suits. I'm not the type who goes for the shrunken suits so I'm wondering if there are any other suitmakers who makes their suits with soft...

    Tribute to MLK

Saw a photo of him on a news site and I realized just how well he dressed. Nothing really unique or new, but considering today's holiday, a small tribute should be up... Thanks King for doing what you believed was right. Happy Martin Luther King Day!

    Isn't it depressing when

I've had a similar experience. I was prepared to bid what I thought was a generous snipe on a pair of C&J Grasmeres, pebble grain leather with a Dainite sole, as a pair of rainy weather shoes. They eventually sold for about $30 less than the plal price. Some people just don't do their homework...

    Sweaters over polo necks

I find the polo collars too soft and rounded to pop over v-necks/crewnecks. Just leave them tucked inside.

    What's wrong with acrylic?

The Wikipedia entry for acrylic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylic_fiber) does mention pilling and static as a problem with acrylic fiber, but it does have many pluses. I think a person with the notion that anything synthetic is automatically inferior and anything expensive and natural is...

    What's wrong with acrylic?

Okayyy, so maybe some people don't find acrylic comfortable. I never had a problem with it, but I only owned a few sweaters with some acrylic in it (thus my question.) Is there backlash because it's a sythnetic fabric?

    What's wrong with acrylic?

With all the praise for the softness of cashmere I'm surprised why acrylic isn't used that often. It's just as soft as cashmere, doesn't shrink, it's resistant to moths and it's inexpensive. So why do I rarely see the material used? Is there something that I'm missing? I just thought I'd throw...
