    This is such a great post. Both the stories and pic’s. I love the Alden SF wings and am very tempted but have an ever-so-slight preference for a short wing. By chance is anyone familiar with a SW Barrie on commando w/antique?

    After considerable thought (ok, 10-15 seconds), I can state definitively that the right answer is, not a clue. I tend to find that my favorite Aldens are the pair on my feet.

    I thought so as I kind of recall a previous recall you had done. I just think that got lost in the discussion on cost of the recraft. I’m not saying it’s cheap, but IMO the value is there. Especially when you include the aftermarket cost of the taps.

    I have not read where anyone stated the structure collapsed after a few wears. Mine have lost some structure faster than my lined shoes but what you describe is definitely extreme compared to my experience.

    I prefer unlined loafers though it is not a strong preference and prior to me dipping my toes into the EG pond, all of my experience has been with Alden & CJ shells. With EG, I have a suede and a grained leather pair and while I like both, I will agree that they have lost some of their shape...

    Of course they didn’t. The only thing worse than the inconsistent quality of his work is the very consistent subpar customer service. No way those shoes should have been shipped like that. No way you should be 3 weeks into a reach out and have yet to receive a response.

    Color 4 looks like Barrie with the other 3 on TB. Sound about right @mdubs. Regardless, just an incredible selection of PTB in rare shells.

    This perfectly captures my feelings on brass. I don’t know that I could pull these off but dang, these look incredible!! Wow…….just wow! And that doesn’t even cover the C4’s as those 8’s are sublime. 4’s are obviously next-level.
